What is a chav?

There are many definitions of what a chav is.

They vary from the poetic to the very blunt.

Would this lad qualify? We're not sure. He's got a baseball cap but is that enough?

Overheard ...

• Chavs are british white trash
• chavs are council estate scum
• chavs are youths who like wearing tracksuits and burberry, plenty of baseball caps and trainers. They have young girlfriends with babies and have names like wayne and kev and dillon
• chavs are lower class people.

note: this is not to say that anyone who dresses in a tracksuit and trainers is a scumbag at all. Lots of top atheletes wear tracksuits.
